Force recalculate / refresh cPanel disk space usage

Today we’ll look at how to force recalculate / refresh your cPanel’s accounts disk space usage. This can be quite annoying, at times the usage does not update even though you’ve freed up space and it should.

There is a fairly straight forward way to force cPanel to recalculate how much disk space you’re using.

Login to your cPanel account and click on File Manager

Next, you’ll have to enable hidden files and folders. To do this, click on the settings button on the top right.

In the window that pops up click on Show Hidden Files (dotfiles). Click Save and you should not be able to see hidden files and folders.

Navigate into the .cpanel directory

Now rename the directory datastore to something else and go back to the disk usage section of cPanel and you should see the update disk usage stats.
